ReadTheory

Read Theory is a powerful educational tool that offers online reading activities for all ages and ability levels. Using custom web application software and carefully crafted and tested content, it provides students with a dynamic reading experience that adapts to their individual ability levels and presents them with a seemingly endless array of skill building exercises. What is more, as students continue to use the site and see their scores gradually improve, the system adapts to match their progress, and the materials presented get incrementally more advanced. The quizzes span the full range, beginning with elementary school reading and ending with the most demanding SAT, ACT, and GRE level reading comprehension and verbal reasoning questions.
Each student’s account has already been created. They will receive their username in the channel book. The password for this academic year is acis1234. It is critical that the child have access to a computer and internet.
Instructions on how to access the account:
Step 1: go to https://readtheory.org/
Step 2: in the top, right hand corner, click on the log in button.
Step 3: The site will now ask for the child’s username and password. Remember, the password for every student is acis1234. Their username will be given the first week of school and will be displayed in the classroom.
Step 4: The child will then take a pre-test to determine his/her level.
Step 5: After the pre-test, the child will be given a variety of selections to read. Based on the amount of questions he/she answers correctly, he/she will earn points. The homework assignment for every week is to earn at least 25 points. The number of points earned for each passage will be displayed at the child finishes the selection.
It is important to point out that Read Theory is always calculating the child’s reading level. For example, If Ben takes a grade 2 reading test and does poorly; Read Theory may make the next test at a grade 1 level, in order to not overwhelm the child.
The point of this weekly assignment is to get the child reading! Practice makes perfect and when it comes to reading this couldn’t be truer. This program will make reading fun for your child and will motivate them to increase their English skills.
If, for whatever reason, you are unable to log in to the child’s account, please let me know as soon as possible. I will demonstrate the login process for the children as well.

Thank you for your cooperation,

Ms. Christine
